About Us
Opened in February of 2024, Gallery Marquee is a Fitchburg State University owned gallery operating as a community-based space to exhibit art. Named for the theater marquee to the left of our entrance, we are a contemporary art gallery and show a variety of subject matter, style, and mediums. We display both group and solo art exhibits and hold several community open calls for artwork per year. Please join our mailing list or follow us on social to stay informed of open call news and events. We also accept 1-2 solo exhibits per year and have a proposal form forthcoming. Stay tuned!
Our Mission
At the heart of our mission is providing a space where both existing artists in the Fitchburg-area, as well as, new members to the community, can tell their stories and make their voices heard through the medium of visual art. We aim to serve artists in our community who may be facing barriers to exhibiting their work in a traditional gallery setting. By utilizing grant funding for our supply and staff-related costs, we charge zero percent commission to artists on sales and do not charge any fees to apply or exhibit artwork in our gallery. Gallery Marquee is breaking the mold on what it means to exhibit artwork by all and for all in Fitchburg and beyond!
